5 Spring Cleaning Hacks That Will Simplify Your Life

Let’s face it, the need for that urge to spring clean is tugging at you, and calling you to get your cleaning game plan ready. It’s not a surprise, right? Spring happens every year, like clockwork. Spring cleaning doesn’t have to be stressful or even take a whole lot of time. There are ways to keep it simple and easy for everyone involved! Here we will dig into ways to make Spring cleaning less overwhelming.

Clean those fan blades with ease.

Are your ceiling fan blades acting as a shelf for all that dust in your home? I know mine are! If so, grab an old pillowcase and wipe them down. The trick is to slide the pillowcase over the fan blade and have your hands on the outside of the pillowcase, grasp the fanblade and gently pull back.blades. Then all the dust is trapped inside to keep all that dust in one location to get rid of it quickly. Once you’ve wiped down all the blades, take the pillowcase outside and turn it inside out and shake out all the dust. Easy peasy.

What about that dust that gets trapped in your air vents?

You can try to vacuum it out with a regular vacuum, but that never seems to fully do the trick, right? Grab an item that is long and moldable, like a straw, and have a cloth wrapped around it. Then stick that cloth and straw between your vent slots and clean away!

Showerhead lacking a bit of power these past few months?

Give it a quick power boost by letting the head nozzle sprayer soak overnight in a bit of distilled vinegar. An easy way to make this happens without completely removing it is to get a plastic ziplock bag, fill the bottom of it with vinegar, hold it up to the shower head nozzle and then hold it in place with a hair tie or rubber band. That way it soaks for as long as you need it to without having to take anything apart. It should unclog and remove any hard water stains that may have built up over the winter months.

Pick a cleaning theme to start with from the beginning, and make sure it’s a focus in each room.

If dusting is the number one priority on your list to get done for the day, then dusting is your focus. Don’t get distracted by the need to vacuum, the need to do laundry, the want of wiping down those kitchen cabinets…all of those items can wait until AFTER you’ve finished dusting your entire home. While it may get a bit monotonous, it’s important to finish the job in its entirety to get it done. Think about how much better and motivated you will feel once you have completed one project for your entire home. Then when you are ready move on to the next theme!

Declutter as you clean.

If you find yourself cleaning a specific area of your home and notice items that you no longer need, it’s time to get rid of them. If you make a mental note to come back and grab those items later, you may forget what item you were willing to part with.

Decluttering is also a productive Spring cleaning habit to start. The easiest way to set up a decluttering station while you clean is to have an empty box or tub in every room of your house.

That way, when you see the item that you are ready to get rid of, you can grab that item and place it directly in the tub. It’s out of the way, and you know without a doubt it’s an item that you are done with and ready to pass on.
